Two years ago, I was providing advice on finding a job within an employer’s market.
You need to change your mindset from one of the job seekers to one of the top performers. Do not try to get a job. Demonstrate to the company why you’d be a great fit. You will want to assess the company the same way you evaluate yourself.
You might feel like you are at a disadvantage in an employer’s marketplace because so many people are competing for the same job.
Instead of thinking of yourself simply as one of the hundreds of job applicants, consider yourself the best candidate for the job. The company must see you as the best candidate for the job. They should be grateful to have you. I show you will how to do this in my Find your Dream Job program.
Let me tell you the truth.
This advice applies even to an employee’s marketplace!
This is the difference: you are better placed to negotiate in an employee market. What should you do?

What makes an employer’s marketplace different from an employee’s?
The “great resignation”, or whatever they call it, is something you’ve probably heard. Workers quit in record numbers, but businesses are now hiring more people than ever.
Workers can leave their job and then move immediately into better-paying, more perks or both jobs. Here’s what Marty Walsh, Secretary of Labor, told Business Insider: “People are using all their power and leverage right now to get better-paying jobs.”
While inflation can dampen some effects, many workers are receiving THOUSANDS in raises that more than offset the rising inflation.
Marty Walsh, Labor Secretary, stated that workers are using their leverage in labor shortages to get better wages. Walsh pointed out that companies that are flexible to the needs of their employees will be the most successful.
This opens up huge opportunities for you to negotiate raises and additional benefits.
Another example is here. Another example is a Pew Research Center study that examined why people quit their jobs in 2021 and what they are doing now.
The majority of people who quit their job in 2021 but aren’t yet retired said they were now working, either full-time (55%) or part-time (23/ %),”), the report showed. 61% of those surveyed said it was easy to find their current job. 33% stated it was very difficult.
These new jobs pay more: At least half of these workers report that they now earn more than in their previous job (56%), have more advancement opportunities (53%), can balance work and family responsibilities easier (53%), and have more freedom to choose their work hours (50 %).”).
Get a $10k+ raise
Recently, we conducted a survey and found that 70% of Americans don’t make enough. 70%!
You can increase your salary now. These are huge numbers.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, ” 1 out 7 US businesses increased wages in 2021 due to the pandemic.” Approximately 5% of US businesses also paid temporary and permanent wage premiums, one-time bonuses, referral bonuses, etc.
Do you need proof? Here are some of the responses that I got from my Twitter users when I asked them to share their information about whether they have received a $10k raise within the past 12 months. I deleted the tweet because I received so many responses!
Here is another story by Nicolle G.
“I was interviewed during my maternity leave. Within two weeks of my first interview, I was offered the job. I am currently working remotely, which is great because it allows me to spend more time with my baby. My last job paid me just $36,000. I now earn just over $57,000, plus better benefits. The cherry on the cake is that I am eligible for $69,000 after one year of employment.
All $10k+ raises. All within the past 12 months.
It’s possible for them if it’s possible.
This is the power that comes with being in an employee’s market. You have the power.
This is a great time to switch industries. You can negotiate a flexible lifestyle such as working at home. You can also negotiate a huge salary increase.
